According to information released Friday by twelve european media, in a joint investigation dubbed “Football Leaks”, Ronaldo is accused of having “concealed 150 million euros in tax havens, thanks to montages offshore through Switzerland and the british virgin Islands”.

“The information available to the ministry of the Budget correspond to those which have been brought to our attention by the media,” responded Saturday to the secretary of State, Jose Enrique Fernandez de Moya at the microphone of the radio Spanish Cadena Cope.

“What I can say is that the tax administration is a body that is extremely professional and it goes without saying that it will carry out inspections that it considers appropriate”, he added.

Asked to confirm firmly if Ronaldo was to be the subject of an investigation by the public Treasury, Jose Enrique Fernandez de Moya said: “As we do with all of the Spaniards”.

The documents exploited by a media consortium, the”European Investigative Collaborations” (EIC), would show how Ronaldo “has received, in any discretion, a total of 149,5 million euro of revenues from sponsorship in tax havens over the past seven years”. “On this fortune, the attacker has not paid 5.6 million euros of taxes. Barely 4%, and without being prosecuted criminally,” said the EIC.

Cristiano Ronaldo “is in breach of its obligations” and was assured Saturday night, his agent Jorge Mendes, with a statement of his company, Gestifute, which publishes a certificate in the sense of the Spanish tax department dated November 30, 2016. But in the legal statement, we can read that this certificate “shall have no effect on the result of examination of additional posterior”. Gold the public Treasury Spanish said on Saturday that it will “perform inspections timely.”.

Ronaldo has “always been in good standing, regardless of the country in which he has played (…) he has always acted in good faith in the matter and has never been in conflict with the tax authorities”, still provides this text.

These charges were dropped Friday while Cristiano Ronaldo, the big favourite for the Ballon d’or 2016, has played on Saturday with Real Madrid against FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou (1-1) the call of the Championship of Spain, one of the games most anticipated of the season. It was not marked.
