Edouard Decoster, co-founder of Legrand, is death – The Express

It was one of the co-founders of Legrand, international manufacturer of electrical equipment. Edouard Decoster died Friday evening at the clinic Chénieux of Limoges, a-t-we learned this Sunday from the enterprise. The man of 97 years died of a lung infection, according to France 3 Limousin, and daily Le Populaire du Centre.

“The death of his brother-in-law in 1983, it takes only the direction of Legrand until 1988. François Grappotte then takes over the reins of the company. Edouard Decoster remained honorary chairman of Legrand until his death”, she added. In 2001, the families Decoster and Verspieren are disengaged from the capital of the group.

The two men have helped make this family business to the rank of world leader in the field of electrical equipment. Today, it stands out especially for its innovations around home automation and connected objects.

Company listed on the Cac-40, the only one in the Region Nova-Aquitaine, Legrand employs 36 000 people in 90 countries. Its historic headquarters is still in the city porcelain. In 2015, its sales of 4.8 billion euros and adjusted operating profit of € 930 million.
