Consumer confidence stable in November, Le Figaro

The morale of households remained stable in November, after having increased slightly in October, announced on Friday the Insee. The morale of households, calculated on the basis of balances of opinion (the difference between the proportion of positive and negative responses) are in October to 98 points, indicates the statistical institute in a press release.

Insee compiles this indicator from the balances of opinion divided into two broad categories: one related to the personal situation of households, the other on their perception of the evolution of the economy in general. The morale of households, is a key element for assessing the level of future consumption, a major driver of growth in France.

“In November, the opinion of households on their personal financial situation past deteriorates slightly, losing two points, while that on their future situation lose one,” said the Insee. Their opinion about their savings capacity, current and future, is stable.

Regarding the economic evolution in general, households are more optimistic about their standard of living future, the balance increasing for the fifth consecutive month.
