The pace of growth of the Spanish market slowed in April with registrations up 3.2% to 82,715 units.
After an increase of over 40% in March, the Spanish market grew by” only “3.2% in April with 82,715 registrations. This slowdown is due both to stop Pive Plan (the 7th edition) and Holy Week (the first week of April), during which the dealers are closed. April was also marked by a sharp fall in registrations on the hirers channel (-38.5% to 16,347 units), the latter having made much of their purchases in the first three months in advance of the Holy Week and Easter holidays.
The market recovery does appear to be confirmed by the continued growth in registrations to channel individuals (18.8% despite discontinuation of Pive Plan, 43,486 units) and corporate ( + 34.9% to 22,882 units).
Since the beginning of the year, the Spanish market was up 23.9% to 349,857 units. It nevertheless remains below its level before between 480,000 and 500,000 units in the semester.
In April, brand performance are not homogeneous and hierarchy evolves. With a further decline of 12.1% in volumes (at 6861 units), Volkswagen is losing the head of the Spanish market over the month and accumulated four months in favor of Seat that despite a drop in registrations in April (- 10.7%) continues to enjoy the success of Leon and Ibiza, the two best sellers in the market. With an increase of 3.9% in April (7,027 units), Opel moved up to second place on April (to VW) and in third place in accumulated.
A then note the continued strong recovery Renault with volumes still rose 40.3% in April (6670 units). Since the beginning of the year Renault was up by 50.9% (to 25,091 units) thanks to its Mégane, 4th in the hit parade of sales by model (11,058 units).
Peugeot up 5.7% in April (to 6,286 units) but Citroën is down 19.9% on the month (4,263 units).
