Bordeaux magistrates decided. The former confidant of Liliane Bettencourt, François-Marie Banier, and asset manager of L’Oreal heiress, Patrice de Maistre, were sentenced on Thursday 28 May in the prison sentences for “abuse of weakness” and “laundering”.
The socialite photographer was sentenced to three years in prison, two and a half years firm. It will also carry 250 000 fine and 16 million euros to Bettencourt family. Patrice de Maistre, he was sentenced to 30 months in prison, including 18 firm, as well as 250,000 euros fine.
However, Erif Woerth, former UMP minister Nicolas Sarkozy, was acquitted in the “influence peddling” pane. He was suspected of having given the Legion of Honor to Patrice de Maistre in exchange for a job for his wife in the company which managed the dividend Liliane Bettencourt.
Meanwhile, Françoise Meyers Bettencourt said he relieved: “My first thought goes to my mother, for his honor, his dignity”
