France: the automotive market has recovered her good health in 2016 – The Point

The market is a French car was found in good health in 2016 by exceeding the symbolic threshold of two million vehicles registered, for the first time since 2011, with a strong bond of the Renault group, according to statistics published Sunday.

The increase in deliveries of new passenger cars was established last year at 5.1%, which is 2.015 million units, said the Committee of French manufacturers of automobiles (CCFA) in a press release.

The automotive market had not reached the two million registrations since 2011. It was at the time supported by a scrapping premium, which was introduced in 2009 to combat the effects of the 2008 crisis, inflating artificially the request.

The level of 2 million is considered the threshold of “normal” of annual registrations in the French market in good health.

The group Renault saw its registrations of passenger cars to grow by 8% to 518.469 units, thanks to his trademark “low-cost” Dacia, whose deliveries rose by 13.4% last year. With the utilities, the increase was 7.3 percent.

The rival French company renault, the PSA group, remained stable in the last year for deliveries of its passenger cars (0%) to 558.976. With the utilities, the group increased by 1.4%.

PSA is currently experiencing a low business due to the renewal of featured products (Peugeot 3008 and 5008, Citroen C3) and a DS range at the end of a career.

There remains, however, the first French group in France, with 27.7% of registrations last year, followed by Renault to 25,73% of the market share for passenger cars.

The two French manufacturers remain prophets in their own country, and arrogate to themselves almost 54% of the market.

- Decline of the brand Volkswagen -

The foreign groups, however, saw it last year on an overall increase of 6.8% of their registrations.

In detail, the Volkswagen group (VW), whose image has been tarnished by the scandal of diesel engines-fixing that broke out in September 2015, remains the first importer.

It increased deliveries by 2.8% to 258.603 units, but the Volkswagen brand has seen its registrations to decline by 0.7%.

What are the other brands, in particular Audi (+10,1%), which have enabled the German giant to grow in volume.

The other major global automakers are in a pocket handkerchief.

The German group, BMW (with Mini) comes in the fourth place, and displays a jump in shipments of 12.7% to 85.712 units, in front of the japanese Toyota, which has recorded an increase of 8.6% to 82.796.

In the sixth position, the group Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) has benefited in the last year of his 4×4 urban Jeep to increase its deliveries of 13.2% at 81.014.

On the other hand, deliveries of the american Ford decreased 1.9% to 79.173.

The japanese manufacturer Nissan is also down (-3,8%) 72.367 units.

The group Daimler, which has seen deliveries of Mercedes jump of 12.1%, experienced an increase of 11.9%.

on the european level, the automotive market is expected to exceed in 2016 the level of 14.5 million units, after 13.7 million vehicles sold in 2015. In spite of everything, there will still be short of the nearly 16 million seen prior to the crisis of 2008-2013.
