Over the past twelve months, the cumulative number of businesses created continues to recover with an increase of 2% as the previous month. “Two creations out of five requests for registrations of micro-entrepreneurs” noted INSEE.

The micro-entrepreneurs registration requests represent 41.1% of enterprises created over the last twelve months. A year earlier, the share was 47.6%. INSEE uses the term “micro-entrepreneurs” to refer to “auto-entrepreneurs”. The auto-entrepreneur status, came into force in 2009, allows employees, unemployed, pensioners or students to develop a business principal or complementary basis to increase revenue with simplified procedures and favorable tax regime.

But Pinel law, adopted in 2014, has made some changes, including forcing the auto-entrepreneurs to register in the commercial register and societies (RCS) for traders, or in the trades (RM ) for craftsmen, making it a bit more binding status.
