CAPITAL INCREASE OF AREVA NOT PRIORITY, SAYS Macron

PARIS (Reuters) – The French government will take vis-à-vis Areva but a capital increase is not the priority today, said Emmanuel Macron Reuters on Tuesday.

The French economy minister said the state does not provide for the sale of EDF shares GDF Suez to finance or support for nuclear energy group reported a loss of nearly 5 billion euros in 2014.

Asked if a capital increase was inevitable, Emmanuel Macron said: “This is not the priority today Areva has many things to herself and it is this which will be announced next week…”

Areva normally publish its annual results on 4 March.

“The state will assume its responsibilities obviously,” said Emmanuel Macron sidelines of a visit to the Agricultural Show.

the question of whether a partnership could be considered with Chinese players in the mines of Areva, he replied: “There are several options to the hand of the company.”

As to sell EDF or GDF shares to finance a capital increase, “none of these options are on the table,” said Emmanuel Macron.
