Peugeot will assemble 1,000 cars per year in Kenya

(Boursier.com) — The PSA Group, and Urysia, importer and distributor of the brand Peugeot in Kenya since 2010, have just signed a contract for the assembly of vehicles of the brand in Kenya. This project position will start in June 2017 for an annual volume of over 1,000 units to cover the needs of the market in kenya. The production will start with the Peugeot 508, followed by the new SUV, the Peugeot 3008,

Return to Kenya

The signing ceremony was held in the premises of the Presidency in Nairobi, in the presence of the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, the French Minister of Economy and Finance, Michel Sapin, Claude Mwende (CEO of Urysia), and Jean-Christophe Quémard (Director of the Middle East region and Africa in the PSA Group). “The Peugeot cars have always been resilient, durable and reliable. We are proud of their home with us,” said Uhuru Kenyatta (President of Kenya) in reference to the assembly of Peugeot cars in Kenya between 1974 and 2002.

Increase sales in Africa

The agreement falls within the framework of the strategic plan of profitable growth ‘Push to Pass’ and expresses the group’s ambition to develop internationally. “This project in Kenya is part of the long-term strategy of the Group aimed at increasing its sales in Africa and the Middle East with the ambition of selling 1 million vehicles in 2025. These local production capacities will serve the markets of the region and to meet the expectations of our customers and to the specificities of each country,” explains Jean-Christophe Quémard.
