Household sentiment recovers slightly in October – Boursorama

The morale of households, calculated on the basis of the balances of opinion (differences between the proportion of positive and negative responses), amounted to 98 points from 97 points in September, says statistics institute, in a press release.

Insee compiles this indicator from the balances of opinion divided into two broad categories: one related to the personal situation of households, the other on their perception of the economic evolution in general.

The moral of the household is a key element for assessing the level of future consumption, a major driver of growth in France.

“In October, the opinion of households on their personal financial situation in the future improves”, with a balance increasing by three points and regaining its level of December 2015, ” said the Insee.

Slightly more households think in October, “that it is appropriate to make major purchases”, the balance, gaining a point.

In addition, “the proportion of households considering that it is advisable to save folds” of three points.

Regarding the economic developments in general, the opinion of households on the level of life future in France is improving, the balance earning two points.

On the other hand, “the fears of the household about the unemployment increase sharply in October”, with a balance rising by ten points.

On inflation, households are less numerous than in September to think that prices have increased over the last twelve months (-6 points) and that the price will increase over the next twelve months (-2 points).
