unemployment in Spain has declined sharply in July falling for the sixth consecutive month, by 74,028 people, but remained high at 4.05 million, according to figures released Tuesday by the Ministry of Employment.
This decline represents more than double that recorded in July 2014 (29 841 people) and double the average of the last eight years (37 000 people).
Unemployment among young people under 25 years, one of the highest in the European Union decreased by 2.61% (8989 persons). All sectors saw the number of unemployed down, including services (44 303 persons), construction (10,511 people) and industry (11 281 people), the statement of the ministry.
While the opposition claims that the fall in unemployment was mainly due to temporary contracts, the Ministry stresses that permanent contracts and full-time increased by 16.94% over the first seven months of the year compared to the same period in 2014.
The Department provides no unemployment, but according to the National Statistics Institute (INE), it was still very high in the second quarter to 22.37 %
