BNP Paribas having received a record fine of EUR 6.45 billion in the United States, Baudouin Prot, the current chairman of the group, is about to leave his post, a move that should be endorsed Friday, September 26 by a board of directors. His departure would be effective December 1.
Emblematic of BNP Paribas, Baudouin Prot was general manager of the financial institution from 2003 to 2011, a period during which the bank violated American law by making payments in dollars to countries under embargo .
These offenses have earned BNP Paribas heavy sanctions on the United States, including a fine record of $ 8.9 billion. If has not personally been implicated by American authorities , Baudouin Prot was very affected by this case, according to internal sources.
