The lower rate of remuneration of the Livret A, which is spent Saturday from 1% to 0.75% per year, its lowest rate, prompting half the French to place their savings in other products, indicates a survey published in the Sunday edition of Ouest-France. “Half of French (50%) displayed the will to continue to save as much but by placing his savings elsewhere than on the Livret A,” says Ifop institute that conducted the survey from July 22 to 24 among a sample representative of 1,011 people by the quota method. However, they are still 39% to not to provide “change their habits vis-à-vis this product.” The remaining 11% is made up by people with fewer savings to consume more.
The decline in earnings is expected to promote growth and the construction of social housing. Indeed, a lower rate notably enables the Caisse des Dépôts, which centralizes 65% of Livret A savings, to grant cheaper loans, housing agencies, for example.
