Greece repaid on Thursday 186.3 million to the IMF (International Monetary Fund) . It avoided and a new fault vis-à-vis payment of the institution, in negotiations a third plan of aid to the country.
A payment honored on time
This is the first time since early June that Greece, in large financial difficulties, honors vis-à-vis the IMF repayment on time. Indeed, the proliferation of suspension, initially set at 30 June and mid-July, had carried the arrears of the country 2 billion euros against the IMF. On July 20, an emergency loan of Europeans, however, had enabled Athens to clear vis-à-vis the IMF debt. A move that allowed him to qualify for new financial assistance of the institution.
€ 22 billion remain unresolved
” Greece paid the interest owed to the IMF today “, the IMF said in a statement. The institution, however, warned that it will not bail out the country so that Athens has accepted a comprehensive reform plan and the Europeans have not consented to alleviate the Greek debt, which is around 320 billion euros. After this payment, Athens still has to repay the IMF in total some 22 billion euros, according to the institution’s website.
