Dailymotion: Vivendi “confirms having made an offer” – Le Point

Vivendi announced Tuesday “have submitted a bid to the Orange Dailymotion folder”, confirming press reports, after the abandonment of redemption discussions by Hong Kong PCCW Group. The French media group does not specify the size or the amount of its offer, while Le Monde affirmed Monday it aimed to buy back the “almost all” of the platform for 250 million euros. This offer “negotiated by the management board should be presented and debated Tuesday, April 7 at a Board of Directors outstanding operator” Orange, added Le Monde . The interest of German groups Axel Springer and Bertelsmann was also mentioned in the press.

In June, the discussions between the operator Orange and pay-TV company Canal + (Vivendi) to find partner had failed. Hong Kong’s PCCW Group announced Monday its decision to “halt” in discussions to acquire 49% of the video platform Dailymotion (Orange), because of the attitude of the French government, which prefers to allow time for a European partner to manifest. The Minister of Economy and Industry Emmanuel Macron, on behalf of the Orange State to 24.9% shareholder, owner of Dailymotion, Orange asked not to grant exclusivity to PCCW before discussion with all potentially interested partners in promoting the idea of a European solution.

It was left to the French group Fimalac time to make an offer, had also told AFP a source close to the matter. The operator Orange, owner of Dailymotion, however, had said the company was “not in exclusive talks with anyone”, explaining “not hostile to the entry of a strategic partner to support and accelerate the development of Dailymotion. “
