PSA Peugeot Citroën and its Chinese partner Dongfeng will develop small and medium-sized cars on the same platform and create a joint research and development center, said Sunday these companies in Shanghai.
The chief executive of PSA, Carlos Tavares, and the president Dongfeng, Xu Ping, formalized these ads at a signing ceremony on the eve of the opening to press the international motor show in the great metropolis of eastern China, and a year after the entry of Dongfeng in the capital of the French manufacturer up to 14%.
Future B segment cars PSA and Dongfeng (type Peugeot 208 and Citroen C3), as well as vehicles of access to the upper class C in some markets (Peugeot 301, Citroën C-Elysée) will be developed from a “global platform” and the products will be distributed under the Peugeot, Citroen, DS and Dongfeng, said the companies a joint statement.
This new platform represents an investment of 200 million euros, of which 60% will be provided by PSA and 40% by Dongfeng, the source said.

In volume, China was in 2014 the first PSA market, through its joint venture with Dongfeng CAPD, with 704,000 vehicles passed. The goal is to sell 800,000 in 2015 and 1.5 million in 2020.
