La Poste wants to establish offices in supermarkets – Challenges.fr

Search the mail while shopping. According to Le Parisien , La Poste plans to eliminate by 2020 around 7,000 offices in urban areas in order to replace them with relays installed, for example, in supermarkets. Cities such as Paris, Lyon and Bordeaux are particularly affected.

The basic postal services (postage, recommended withdrawal letter …) could thus be made by the supermarket staff with the main benefit for customers: extended hours. Banking services will however not insured, forcing them to go to the traditional post office nearest you.

The direction of the station declined to officially confirm the project. “Indeed, there will be fewer post offices in the future. How? I do not know. The question is not,” responded Philip Bajou, network boss (the direction that handles offices throughout the country), quoted by Le Parisien . However, according to trade unionists and executives cited by the newspaper: La Poste “will strictly enforce a remedy advocated the same year in an explosive report of the Court of Auditors.” At the time, the report explained: “In view of the current 17,000 contact points, a commercial optimization lead to a network of approximately 3,000 stores.”

La Poste is currently facing the colossal fall of mail. In 2020, the number of letters and small packages will for example have been halved compared to what it was in 2008.
