Radar: The government aims at 25 % of revenues in addition to 2017 – 20minutes.fr

ROAD SAFETY revenue from automated control on the roads could rise from 672 to € 844 million…

This is a new one, which falls at the same time as the latest road safety figures, with an increase of 30.4 per cent of deaths on the road in September. The government expects an increase of 25% of the revenues lump-sum from the automated control in 2017, according to figures from the finance bill for the next year, reported by Les Echos.

844 million euros of revenue in 2017 ?

If this year, 672 million euros of fines should be collected, the State should reap 844 million euros in 2017. It would be a recipe record from the large-scale installation of automated radars in France, in 2002, says the economic daily.

to achieve this result, it is planned to install next year 150 radar, additional to reach a total of 4,600 aircraft by the roadside. 4.700 are expected in 2018, the final step of a plan, decided in 2015 to improve road safety figures.

This in fact already two years that the figures of deaths on the roads are increasing, after a continuous decline in twelve years. In 2015, 3.461 people have lost their lives in a traffic accident, which is 77 more than in 2014.

It is planned to also install radar, two-way, radar systems, self-reliant. These devices are placed in areas of construction, particularly accidentogènes. Finally, the radars on board police vehicles will be integrated into the system. Objective : not to exceed 2,000 deaths per year on French roads by 2020.
