The price of gas will increase by 1.6% in the November 1, Le Figaro

INFO LE FIGARO – The rate-regulated gas applied by Engie (ex-GDF Suez) will register an increase the next month. Seven million households are affected.

The rate application Engie (ex-GDF Suez) has not yet been transmitted to the Commission for energy regulation (CRE) -it should be at the beginning of the next week – but we already know its value: as at November 1, next, the regulated tariffs for gas will be appreciated by 1.6%. Approximately 7 million households are concerned. This rate increase is not a surprise: the regulated prices of gas are indexed to a portion on the price of oil and the barrel has started a slow rise for several weeks already. Brent in London rating now over 50 dollars, which is double that at the beginning of the year. At the end of January, he had recorded its low for the past several years at $ 26 million.

The increase, which will intervene in November to coincide with the real entry in the “heating season”, which will extend until march approximately. In the month of October, the price of gas had registered a slight decline, to the tune of 0.8%. This movement of decline occurs after three consecutive months of increases: in July, August and September, the tariffs administered the gas applied by Engie had respectively increased by 0.2%, 2,3% and 0.4%.

The upward movement that is taking shape for November will not prevent Engie to highlight the competitiveness of gas prices. Since the beginning of the year, and before the movement of November, they have fallen by almost 10%. For a few years now, gas prices are reviewed every month, so as to further smooth the fluctuations. Seen so far, they were reviewed on a quarterly basis, which promoted the movements of magnitude, very unpopular with public opinion when it came to increases.
