Succession to the CGT: Philippe Martinez proposed to succeed … – The Obs

Paris (AFP) – The leadership of the CGT approved Monday night’s candidacy to succeed Philippe Martinez Thierry Lepaon at the head of the union and that choice will be submitted Tuesday to vote in the “parliament” of the plant, which has the last word and may refuse.

After a day of discussion, the Executive Committee (extended direction) was approved by 28 votes in favor, 18 against and 6 abstentions the number one choice the federation of metallurgy to succeed Mr. Lepaon resigned after revelations about his lifestyle, told AFP internal.

Mr. Martinez, fifties, is a former Renault Boulogne-Billancourt, where he was central union representative. He leads since 2008 the Federation of metals (the third of the CGT).

The Board also validated the nine other members of the Confederal office that have been proposed to it by the working group set up by Thierry Lepaon.

The last word goes to the turbulent “parliament” of the CGT, the National Confederal Committee (NAC), the exclusive right to elect the office by a majority of two thirds. The Council consists of representatives of 33 federations and 96 departmental unions.

Forced to resign last week after two months of controversy over his lifestyle, he Lepaon, which remains the Commission executive, kept his hand on the choice of his successor.

Duynslaeger Colette, 54, leader of the Federation of La Poste, is proposed for the post of director-treasurer, a highly sensitive function . The previous, Eric Lafont, resigned in the wake of revelations about the expenses incurred for Mr. Lepaon

The other eight members of the future are proposed office. Alain Alphon-Layre (UD Gard), Christine Thornton (UD North), Michele Chay (trade), Pascal Debay (UD Meurthe-et-Moselle), Virginia Gensel-IMBRECHT (leader of the federation of energy), Nathalie Metche-Nickles (utilities), Grégory Roux ( railway), Philippe Texier (UD Gold Coast)

-. ‘A small majority’ –

Mr. Lepaon has dragged down the members of his office since there does not appear in the new team.

Mr. Martinez received on Monday a narrow majority in the Executive Commission, where 24 members refused to dub.

Last week it was a majority of 34 votes that the EC had accepted the selection procedure, proposed by Mr. Lepaon and strongly criticized by some of the organization.

“parliament” on Tuesday it may jam.

The two-thirds majority required for selection the new office, inscribed in marble statutes, is not easy to get.

Mr. Martinez and his team will likely have the support of some big federations – whose voices are paramount to SCC. – Including metallurgy, Computer, railway, energy

But the federations and unions have fought hard to get the resignation of Mr. Lepaon, may not accept a succession which bears his mark. Many of the applicants are indeed close to resigning.

“This is war,” he told AFP an internal source. Federations who wanted “a break with Thierry Lepaon not accept not being heard,” it is added.

Monday, metallurgy region CGT Nord Pas-de-Calais, in a statement, demanded the holding of an extraordinary congress before the end of June and the designation of a “transitional collective leadership” to prepare this conference.

SCC CGT is sometimes unpredictable. He dismissed May 31, 2012 Nadine Prigent’s candidacy by Bernard Thibault and was outvoted in May Thierry Lepaon its NVO restructuring project, the magazine of the plant.
