Paris (AFP) – The flow of Eurostar trains will be back to normal on Monday after two days of strong disturbances related to incidents in the Channel Tunnel, told AFP on Sunday the general manager of the railway .
“All the tunnel will not be repaired tomorrow, but there will be parts that will be repaired and we will have more traffic facilities in the tunnel, which will allow us to have a normal service” explained Nicolas Petrovic.
Meanwhile, Eurotunnel still evoked Sunday night on its website “a rearrangement of departure times due to an incident in the tunnel that is being resolved.”
The wait for passenger service, was estimated at about five o’clock in the direction Calais-Folkestone and three o’clock in the sense Folkestone-Calais, according to the message posted on the website at a time not specified.
The traffic under the Channel was severely disrupted throughout the weekend. Saturday, the tunnel was closed for more than twelve hours after a small fire aboard a shuttle trucks from England to France, causing “thousands” of passengers to cancel or postpone their trip, according the CEO of Eurostar.
After a partial reopening Sunday morning, traffic was again interrupted for two hours, according to Eurostar, following a problem on a catenary. The accumulated delays then forced to cancel Eurostar trains eleven Sunday afternoon.
