The decline in the unemployment rate, the United States, accelerated in December with robust job creation. This makes 2014 the best for 15 years, for new hires, according to official figures released Friday.
The unemployment rate stood at 5.6% in December, its more lowest level since June 2008. In November, it reached 5.8%. The economy created 252’000 jobs. This is more than what qu’escomptaient analysts were betting on 245,000 new hires.
The opening of new positions reached in 2014, the highest in 15 years. They totaled 2,952,000 net hires against 3.177 million in 1999, said a statistician from the Labor Department.
The high level of job creation in November was also revised upwards 32,000 to 353,000. On average each month last year, the US economy created jobs 246’000 against 194’000 in 2013.
