Prepare yourself, most of the banks have planned to increase quite strongly the rates for certain services in 2017. These include the costs of maintaining current accounts, withdrawals from the distributors or the contribution of blue cards.
Difficult, if not impossible, today without a bank account. So, it is a bit of a feeling of being trapped which settles among the customers of major French banks. Because bank fees are going to increase in 2017. This was already the case in 2015 and 2016, but this time it will explode.
in The first row of increases, the fees required of current accounts. On average, they will increase next year by 50 %, from 12€ to 18€ per year. We can consider that the amounts are relatively modest, it is still an increase of 250 times higher than the rate of inflation. The Postal Bank, for example, that did pay 6,20€ for this service, will double to 12€. Worse, some institutions that do not charge no maintenance fee for accounts, joining the movement. The Banque Populaire Rives de Paris is now a charge for this service is€ 30 per year, starting today. Even online banks, however, deemed to offer services that are less expensive, come, as Axa Bank that you will now be€ 15 per year.
And this is not finished. Two other services are seeing their costs significantly increase. The banks are going to charge more fees so-called “displaced”, not always well known to the users. This is a fee that pays for a client when he withdraws to a dealer who is not the bank in which he has his account. Generally, depending on the bank, a customer can withdraw 5 or 6 times per month in a bank’s competitor before the transaction is charged 1 euro per withdrawal.
The banks are expected to reduce this number of withdrawals permitted : it will go from 4 to 3 per month before billing in The Postal Bank and from 6 to 4 per month at Crédit Agricole, for example,
Finally, the blue cards will also see their dues increase. The increase, however, will be more moderate, since it should not exceed 2€ per year. But don’t be surprised if your bank renews your credit card by a debit card is delayed, it is now the priority. In effect, the commission perceived by the banks holders of these cards are considered credit cards – is higher… 0.1% of that of the cards debit ! There are no small profits.
To justify these increases, the banks allege of exceptionally low interest rates combined with new regulatory constraints and “it spending”. To be clear, to grow the money of the customers is not enough.
“The earnings of the banks are under pressure : the rates are very low, the income generated by the individual deposits are lower and the commissions they received on the payments also decrease”, says Olivier Sampieri, associate director of the office of strategy consultancy Boston Consulting Group.
Not enough to soften the consumers : “This is not acceptable,” thus ruling Cédric Musso, director of the political action in the UFC-That to choose.
In the Volvestre, a half-hour south-west of Toulouse, Morning took the bet to revolutionize the bank. At the start site of cobanking under the name of Payname (he was able to exchange money with friends and family, organise a prize online, to buy/sell between individuals, to pay for services to the person…) Morning now wants to become a néobanque. Only start-up to have obtained the approval of bank, it is preparing, in the coming weeks, the arrival of Mastercard payment cards… free of charge. With services… free of charge, as the choice of his secret code, or the suspension/reactivation of the card in case of loss. Some services will still pay, but the philosophy of Morning, is to leave the choice to the consumer.
