The decline in the beginning of the year seems a distant memory. In late April, France had 3,536,000 jobseekers in category A, an increase of 0.7% compared to March. This is the worst figure for eight months.
In one year, the increase is 5.1%, however, growth is back, but its effects on employment are expected. “It was a quarter of strong growth, the first quarter, before the beginning of the growth is sustainable and then arrives to materialize at the unemployment figures, there is a certain time” explains Céline Antonin, an economist.
Until this improvement is slow, the government announced tonight a new boost to subsidized jobs. 100,000 subsidized jobs will be added to the existing 450,000. A social treatment of unemployment which aims especially young people, with the future of jobs in associations and local communities and generation of contracts in companies. In April, youth unemployment increased by a further 0.8%.
