Russian Embargo: new EU measures in favor of vegetable
The European Commission will next week new exceptional measures to support the market gardeners of the EU, she announced Thursday. These farmers are affected by Russia’s ban on Western food products.
The actions to stabilize markets and compensation of producers should concern cucumbers, cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and certain types of tomatoes. These perishable products have been identified as priorities in Brussels by agricultural experts from the European Commission and the 28 Member States.
After this initial exchange of views on the impact of Russian retaliation, the European Agriculture Commissioner Dacian Ciolos said it will unveil new measures “early next week”, targeting “of fruit and vegetables clearly in trouble.”
