More and more students are going to be forced to work full time during the year to meet their expenses, predicted the National Union of Students of France (UNEF). Rising rents, gel scholarships … The cost of living will continue to rise in September, the union denounced in a report released Sunday, August 17th in The Sunday Journal .

A figure four times higher than inflation, according to UNEF.
The union is particularly alarmed by the escalation of student wage. Nearly a third (29.6%) of employees and students are employed full-time during the academic year. They were only a fifth (18.5%) in 2006 asked about their motivations, they are 51.3% consider that it is “essential for life”, against 40% in 2011.
The rent is the first expense of students, who spend on average 53% of their budgets, according to UNEF. Especially as the price of small areas are increasing, up 3.1% to Paris, 2% in the provinces. According to calculations of the union, a student must pay 799 euros a month to support herself, or 48% of the median wage (against 43% in 2011).
