LIVE – Strike taxis: Valls condemned the violence “unacceptable” – Le Figaro

o 2000 taxis in the streets
At least 2,000 drivers were demonstrating across France to protest against the competition of transport cars with driver. In the Paris region, 1200 taxis were recorded on various protest sites, particularly at Orly where a few dozen protesters organized a filtering on the A106 by installing pads on the floor, allowing only taxis on strike in a heated atmosphere.

The morning was marked by incidents on the Paris ring road, Porte Maillot. Dozens of taxi drivers, walk down on the tracks, set fire to tires, before facing the CRS. The drivers were then quickly evacuated. Twenty people were arrested. One demonstrator was also injured at Orly airport. The Prime Minister Manuel Valls denounced the “unacceptable violence”.

o Blockages in the South

In the provinces, in Toulouse, Marseille, Aix-en-Provence and Lille, the taxi strike resulted disturbances, particularly around airports and train stations (or from the TGV station of Aix-en-Provence). In Marseille, the drivers are already threatening to resume their movement.


o A meeting with Manuel Valls and several ministers

taxi drivers representatives were to be received by late morning Manuel Valls at Matignon. He was to be accompanied by his interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve, the Secretary of State for Transport Alain Vidal and Secretary of State for Handicrafts including Martine Pinville.
