PARIS (Reuters) – Thales announce Monday the appointment of Henri Proglio, the former head of EDF, the position of non-executive chairman, with the CEO Patrice Caine, current number two supplier of aerospace and defense, according to sources quoted by AFP on Saturday night.

The State and Dassault Aviation, the two major shareholders of the group, discussing for several weeks on the estate of the former CEO Jean-Bernard Levy, whose appointment surprise at the head of EDF to replace Henri Proglio was announced on 15 October.

Thales has had to entrust its Secretary General Philippe Logak the interim head of the group in late November, when Jean-Bernard Lévy took office at EDF.

Neither Thales nor Dassault nor Bercy were immediately available to confirm the information.

The state owns 26.4% of Thales and Dassault Aviation 25.3%.

Reuters revealed in November the two shareholders relied replace Jean-Bernard Lévy by a tandem consisting of a non-executive chairman selected externally and a CEO selected internally.

The process had to reboot after almost resulted in a consensual choice, explained Wednesday to reporters Eric Trappier, CEO of Dassault Aviation, during the presentation of the new Falcon jet 8X.

Several sources said the favorable state Patrice Caine appointed by Jean-Bernard Lévy, Dassault preferring Pierre-Eric Pommellet, in charge of defense mission systems Thales, whether for a CEO or CEO.
