Thales has found his boss. More than two months after announcing the departure of its CEO, Jean-Bernard Lévy, to replace the head of EDF Henri Proglio, whose mandate was not renewed, the state and Dassault, the main shareholders of defense electronics group with 26% and 25% stake, have agreed on a new governance. According to AFP, Patrice Caine, the current number two of Thales, will be Monday appointed CEO of the group, while Henri Proglio will become Chairman of the Board, a non-executive role.
“Henri Proglio will be Monday appointed non-executive chairman of Thales. Patrice Caine will be named CEO,” said a source told AFP.
A quadra operational levers
A 44-year-old Patrice Caine is a connoisseur of the house thalésienne in which it took root over 12 years and developed a strategic vision of the group by accumulating key positions. The appointment of the X-Mines should also have the virtue to reassure internally, while the group is in full deployment of its growth strategy and internationalization.
The unions but also Apat, the association of employee shareholders of Thales, had indeed claimed that the new boss is from the group in order to ensure continuity and ensure its stability. All keep in mind the difficult episode of the chairmanship of Luc Vigneron, characterized by a detestable social climate that Jean-Bernard Levy had sought to appease the past two years … in precisely pressing Patrice Caine.
Number two already Thales
Jean-Bernard Lévy had his right arm, with the title of general manager in charge of operations and performance. Patrice Caine and had the largest portfolio of business after the CEO, operations but especially the “Ambition Boost” program to improve the profitability of Thales. His task now will be to continue and expand this strategy and it declined under the key words-words “competitiveness and growth.” For this, it has advantages. His knowledge of the house and his managerial qualities, but also its proximity and listening skills
“Brilliant, end accessible” are the adjectives that come back often at her. It also goes well with the unions, with whom he strived to finally turn the page Vigneron. One that had been spotted and hired by the former CEO Denis Ranque and has entered the Executive Committee on the arrival of Mr. Levy, however, will have to sail close to the complex relationship between its two major Thales shareholders.
The state and the aircraft manufacturer Dassault, had been unable to agree on the name of the future leader to replace Jean-Bernard Lévy, whose estate had not been resolved at his departure in late November. Philippe Logak, Secretary General, was appointed head of Thales interim basis.
