France: Industrial production declined, employment collapses – The World

On the only manufacturing, the decline was confined to 0.2% but it remains a decline which almost completely erases the rebound shy of the previous month. Manufacturing output the last three months is displayed down compared to the same three months of 2013 (-0.3%). It also drop in overall industry (-0.6%).

This weakness of the industrial sector is reflected in the figures for employment. In the third quarter 2014, the French economy has destroyed 55,200 jobs in the commercial sector, to reduce wildfire the slight improvement in the second quarter when 7,000 jobs were created. In one year, 59,700 jobs were cut in the main market sectors (or – 0.4%)

In the third quarter, all sectors have suffered

    In industry, employment fell by 0.4% (11,300 jobs) in the third quarter. In one year, it fell by 38,100 jobs (or -1.2%)
  • Construction employment also decreases (15,200 posts, or – 1.1%).. In one year, the sector lost 36,800 jobs (ie – 2.6%).
  • The employment in the market services sector decreases (28,700 jobs, or 0.3%, after 28 300 in the second quarter 2014). But over a year, the service sector as a whole has created 15,300 jobs (or 0.1%)
