Earth Hour: 20:30, lights out for the planet – francetv info

A symbolic action for a great cause. Saturday March 19 , many cities and citizens of France and around the world will attend the event Earth Hour , or a time for the planet that aims to awaken awareness of global warming. The principle: 20:30 , everyone should turn off the light at home, one hour .The city of Tourcoing participates and cut eg lights of City Hall, the MUBA, the former chamber of commerce, the Church St Christophe du Parvis Hospice of Havre, of the Sacred Heart Church, the pedestrian walkway of the complex Workshop to Virolois.

Valenciennes, Place d’Armes will be in the black from 20:30 to 21:30. The city is particularly mobilized for this edition because the facade of City Hall, the Plaza de Armas, churches St Michel and St Gery, the museum, the headframe Dutemple, the Phoenix are off March 18 to 20

more than 170 countries , the monuments of the cities will go out: the Eiffel Tower , Big Ben , Grand Place and Atomium in Brussels … the World Wide Fund for Nature ( WWF ) is organizing this event which brings the whole planet:

for its tenth edition, the message Earth Hour is the same: to fight against global warming, the planet must achieve energy savings. Fossil fuels (coal, gas, oil), used in particular in the production of electricity, are indeed responsible for three quarters of greenhouse gas emissions, causing the climate change .
