An Airbus A320 of the German low-cost airline Germanwings, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, which liaised Barcelona-Düsseldorf, crashed Tuesday late morning in Barcelonnette area in the Alpes de Haute-Provence . It was carrying 150 people including six crew members.
The French President Francois Hollande said that the conditions of the crash of the Airbus in the Alps “suggests that there would be no survivors.”
“ The accident occurred in a particularly difficult area of access , “he added.
“ The theft was reported in distress at 10:47 local, downhill flight level FL380 and 5,000 feet, near Barcelonnette ,” the DGAC , the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
The device, in service for 24 years, crashed at the height of the massive Three bishoprics .
The police flew over the crash site: debris is scattered on 2km2 and the carcass is located 7km of a road. Bodies were seen around the device. Policemen on foot were able to reach the site and check if there would be any survivors.
Prime Minister Manuel Valls has activated the interministerial crisis and Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve went on PC backup site.
This is the first crash of an airliner on French soil since the Concorde accident in Gonesse, near Roissy in July 2000. Accident which had 113 deaths.
