The Elysee confirms the choice of Jean-Bernard Levy as CEO of EDF – RTL.be

The Elysee confirmed on Monday the appointment of Thales CEO Jean-Bernard Levy to head of EDF where he will succeed Proglio.

“The President intends to appoint M . Jean-Bernard Levy as President and CEO of Electricité de France ’84.5% owned by the government, the presidential palace said in a statement.

“The president of the National Assembly and the Senate president is before the proposed appointment to the committee concerned of each meeting shall decide as provided “by the Constitution, said the Elysee Palace, continuing the formal nomination procedure.

The appointment of Jean-Bernard Levy was decided in mid-October by the government, with the stated aim of giving a new breath to the French electricity giant, called to support the deployment of law energy transition.

It provides in particular to reduce the share of nuclear power from 75% to 50% by 2025 in favor of renewable energy.

Jean-Bernard Levy, 59, led Vivendi Universal before taking the reins of the defense electronics group Thales, in December 2012, expanding its international presence.

His appointment must still be subject to an extraordinary general meeting on 21 November, on the eve of the end of the mandate of Mr Proglio
