Fuels: actors oil and transport received Matignon – Le Figaro

The meeting, convened by Manuel Valls yesterday afternoon, while six of the eight refineries in the country were still stopped or idling, to be held at 11 am. His goal: “to review the situation of fuel supply”

refineries on strike, fuel depots blocked. Protest against labor law has focused on the oil sector. So much so that for nearly a week, fears of a fuel shortage urges French to rush on some 11,500 service stations of the country. About 20% of stations were still struggling Friday. In turn, many business sectors – the construction trade through tourism – faced with difficulties in supplying gasoline or a decrease in their activity indirectly related to the shortage, sounding the alarm bell .

as concerns mount, Manuel Valls officially convened a summit meeting at Matignon. There will receive this Saturday at 11 am stakeholders in the oil sector (refining, petroleum distributors – integrated, independent retailers, storekeepers) and representatives of the transport sector (professional associations, ports). The meeting “will take stock of the situation in the supply of fuels, companies and planned actions,” said Matignon. Around the table, several ministers will also participate in the discussions: Bernard Cazeneuve, Minister of Interior, Emmanuel Macron, the Minister of Economy, and Alain Vidal, Secretary of State for Transport.

The government is trying for several days to remove the threat of a shortage of gasoline. Since Friday, the police intervene to raise fuel depot blockades. Friday night, all deposits were unlocked except that of Gargenville (Yvelines), still on strike. “These unlocked deposits can increase the delivery capacity, allowing to supply more gas stations,” said the spokesman for the Secretary of State for Transport. “An order was issued by Alain Vidal so that drivers who deliver fuel to work 2 hours a day, to accelerate the supply of service stations” also recall the services of Matignon. Another remedy to the crisis, draw on strategic reserves of petroleum products. “The volume of stocks is on average about 115 days of consumption, almost four months, (and) the equivalent of 3 days was used.”

According to a Toluna survey released Friday, nearly 4 of 10 French say they have faced a shortage. And more than half of respondents (53.6%) think that fuel might miss the next few days
