Windows 10, Microsoft to catch up – Liberation

Catching the blow: it’s Microsoft’s goal, which launches this Wednesday the tenth version of its operating system, called Windows 10, in 190 countries. The new “OS” (“operating system”) of the American brand will try to forget the commercial failure of its predecessor, Windows 8, and version 8.1, used on just under 13% of the machines in the summer of 2014. Windows 10 is supposed to equip machines billion by 2018, two thirds of the number of users of different versions of Windows present in the world today.

With the decline of the computer market, the brand Bill Gates put on an operating system that wants universal, suitable for both PC and Xbox consoles as smartphones and tablets. This is to respond to the diversification of uses and upward mobility, mission for which Windows 8, very focused on the tablet for navigation and touch usage, had failed.

Critical Mass

Microsoft, far behind the mobile turn, seems to want to make sure to quickly reach a critical mass of users, even provide Windows 10 as a free update for users of versions 7 and 8, 75% of users. A small revolution, reflecting a change in Microsoft’s business model, including the monetization strategy should change considerably. Even hackers, holders of a non-official license of Windows, will be offered this change. They could benefit from preferential offers to switch to a legal version. Business side, one of the most important Microsoft market share, the announced end of support for Windows 7 could push them to skip a generation to acquire directly editing 10.

Internet explorer pushed out

The radius of the new, Windows 10 includes an improved version of Cortana (no, not that of Halo), the Microsoft equivalent of Siri. The operating system also tends to generalize unlock biometric systems, including facial recognition or retinal scanner. Internet explorer, “the browser which is only used to install another” , if one believes the trolls will not be fully removed, but pushed out by the arrival of Edge, touted as better than Firefox and Chrome. The browser allows, among others, to annotate a Web page or save web content in a playlist, then to consult in a more readable format, stripped links and advertisements. Windows 10 finally integrate the system of “virtual office”, which allows to quickly switch from a personal office in a professional office.
