The car market up 6.5% in April – the Point

The French car market increased from 6.5% in April over one year, a rate slightly lower than in the first three months of 2016 but still higher than that recorded last year in the same period, according to released Monday official figures.

While 181,830 new passenger cars were put on the roads of the Hexagon last month, Renault married the trend with an increase in registrations of 6.1 % compared to April 2015, while PSA (ex-Peugeot Citroën) did slightly less well with an increase of 4.1%, said the French automobile manufacturers (CCFA) in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Volkswagen group, exposed for seven months fixing scandal diesel engines stalled, with growth of only 3.1% in registrations in April. The French car market has completed the first four months of the year up 7.7%, while manufacturers and experts were cautious early in the year for the whole of 2016, assuming a stable or weak growth.

in 2015, it had registered 1.91 million new cars in France rose by 6.8% compared to 2014 which allowed to turn the page of the crisis triggered in 2008.
