the “day of solidarity” reported 2.24 billion euros in 2015 and 2.29 billion euros should be collected in 2016.

Established in June 2004, after the deadly 2003 heat wave, the solidarity contribution for autonomy (CSA), is intended to finance better care for elderly and disabled people with reduced autonomy.

In 2016, 1.375 billion euros will be redistributed for the benefit of the elderly, with 458.4 million euros from the county councils to finance the personal autonomy allowance (APA) and 916.8 million euros allocated to nursing homes and services welcoming the public.

on the other hand, 916.8 million euros will benefit the disabled, with 595.9 million of euros paid to county councils for funding the provision of disability compensation and operation of departmental homes for disabled persons.

Finally, 320.9 million euros will be allocated to nursing homes and services welcoming people with disabilities.

More specifically, revenues from the “solidarity day” contribute eg to recruit staff in nursing homes or special structure, funding hours assistance home for seniors with loss of autonomy and the disabled.
