After a failed negotiating session with management of the company on Friday, the three pilot unions renewed their call to strike from June 24 to 27
the scenario is always the same. A sterile face-to-face meeting between representatives of the three pilot unions – the SNPL, the SPAF, Alter – and the leadership of the tricolor company … and a new strike notice. Less than a week after the end of their movement that led Air France to cancel 20% of flights for four days, the three organizations reiterate their call to strike from June 24 to 27 This is the response chosen by the three unions after the New unsuccessful meeting Friday.
In their statement, the three organizations denounce “their frustration and concern to see the fruits of their labor and their past efforts and current feed a decidedly opposite strategy to the interests of the company and France ‘ . Those who thought that the pilots were defending corporate interests are discovering that it is on behalf of the nation they fight … The 40 million lost by Air France during the last strike will add up to tens of millions additional €. The demands of the drivers have not changed. They claim that the balance of activity between Air France and KLM, set in 2004 during the merger between the two companies, is restored.
In 2011, however, another agreement was reached and signed by the SNPL. But drivers consider it today too generous to their counterparts KLM. Other patterns are added: commitments on the businesses of Air France short and medium-haul, freezing and joint ventures “the just reward efforts” including a catch-up pay. Again, the direction of the company stressed that most of these issues fall within the Air France-KLM Group and not of the only French company. Why not wait for the new CEO of the group on July 4 to discuss, question the negotiators. “There is no short-term urgency to want to address these issues,” exclaims one of them. Why launch a strike now? Maybe to enjoy the floating governance and manifest a strange form of power.
Meanwhile, Air France has denounced in a statement an “irresponsible and uncaring” attitude of the leadership of SNPL vis-à Air France-vis the employees of all categories who mobilize every day serving customers and the company’s recovery.
