“Panama Papers”: a minister resigns – Most

José Manuel Soria became Friday the latest victim of global scandal “Panama Papers”, announcing his resignation from the Conservative government, an embarrassment within three months of probable legislative. On 6 April, the Prime Minister of Iceland Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson had already had to resign under the pressure of the street outraged by revelations about its investments in tax havens.

Minister of Industry, the energy and Tourism since 2011, José Manuel Soria, 58, whose name was quoted as administrator at least an offshore company in the Bahamas, said Friday morning his resignation and its withdrawal from politics, after the week to deny any connection with tax havens.

Earlier this week, two media had revealed that the minister’s name was associated with the vast scandal “Panama Papers”. They claimed that Mr. Soria was briefly director of an offshore company registered in the register of the Bahamas there are more than 20 years, the minister categorically denied, even if the documents bore his signature or that of his brother. Throughout the week, the minister had appeared to be entangled in his denials, the daily press publishing new information contradicting it.
