NTT Data announced Monday to buy Dell’s IT consulting subsidiary to over three billion dollars to expand in North America and strengthen its services segment. This transaction is part of the PC manufacturer for redemption of the EMC data storage specialist to nearly $ 60 billion, one of the largest acquisitions in the “high tech”.
It will allow Dell reduce some debt of $ 43 billion committed for the acquisition of EMC, which EMC shareholders must vote, in theory allowing to complete the transaction between July and October.
NTT Data said it would pay $ 3.05 billion (2.73 billion euros), an amount which excludes liabilities and various advisory commission.
This purchase has also allow NTT Data, a global leader in technology and services, to strengthen its presence in the US, particularly in the areas of health, insurance and financial services.
Formerly Perot Systems, Dell computer consulting subsidiary is very active in advising hospitals and departments. Founded in 1988 by former candidate Ross Perot presidential, it was bought by Dell in 2009 to $ 3.9 billion. Since then, Dell has sold certain assets of the company and has integrated in others, which are not included in the sale.
Dell is also in talks with private equity funds to sell Quest Software an IT management company, and SonicWall, security specialist data and email encryption, Reuters reported previously. Quest and SonicWall could be worth all the four billion.
