The global smartphone market is stalled and China is no exception to the rule, but the market remains particularly interesting to follow with manufacturers that take their game, starting with Huawei.

the world number three smartphone impresses with very good price / quality ratio and boundless ambition but it was not the number one in China in 2015, preceded by “Chinese Apple” Xiaomi.

a strange paradox is explained by the strategy of Huawei, the manufacturer is rapidly internationally oriented and directed in recent years the majority of its turnover from exports. a gamble that enabled Huawei to break the clichés about Chinese manufacturers and to become today a key player in the market able to offer high-end models that can rival those of Samsung and Apple.

Conversely, the startup Xiaomi has won acclaim and his nickname “Chinese Apple” by focusing mainly on Asia and China before opening timidly abroad. Even today, its arrival in Europe is not cohosh and manufacturer seems stalled.

According to the latest figures published by IDC for China, Xiaomi has lost ground in the second quarter 2016 and is at the foot of the podium with 10.5 million devices passed against 17.1 million a year ago. A dramatic decline from 38.4% the brand contests but reflects the difficulties of Xiaomi for several quarters in the image of the Apple model.

Meanwhile, Huawei understands that shine on his land were important and the manufacturer does not loose its leading position for several quarters. in the second quarter of 2016, Huawei beyond passed the 19 million smartphones (19.1 million), an increase of 15.2% over a year that allows it to anticipate and OPPO vivo.

Little known in Europe, the two brands are the stars rising sector and displayed an insolent growth. OPPO from 8 million units sold to 18 million in one year (+ 124.1%) and ranks second, just ahead vivo and 14.7 million smartphones sold ( + 74.7% yoy).
