Auchan and Système U Reconciliation: no impact in Upper … – The Awakening of the Haute-Loire

A first step was made official in 2014 by entering into Eurauchan Système U, the central purchasing of Auchan stores. After this first step, the Directorate General of Auchan wanted to go further with the aim to “marry” the two brands.
Indeed, the joint procurement were then extended to the first price products.
In February, this merger was submitted to the personal representatives of both brands. The links between Auchan and Système U tightened beyond the purchasing groups to involve the pooling of storage and a “convergence of trade policies.”
The two signs are, however, quite different, Auchan, a group that is at the international level, has a turnover which is almost double that of Système U is basically a cooperative. However in France, the market shares are comparable.
Specifically, the merger of the two brands would provide failover Hyper U very large surfaces under the Auchan while smaller shops, like Simply Market Auchan, would turn into Super U. Schematically, Auchan hypermarkets regroup and Système U supermarkets.
This is actually the implementation of an observation, Auchan is “stronger” in hypermarkets, while U system is more efficient with regard to smaller areas.
In terms of trading scheme in Haute-Loire, this merger should not affect the extent Système U has no hypermarket in the department, so probably no sign of change on that side. But there should not be any change in respect of the smaller surfaces. There was in Haute-Loire a single store Simply Market in Langeac, but this supermarket has now changed teaches and will therefore not be affected.
Simply Market The closest are at Aumont-Aubrac in Lozere and in the Puy-de-Dôme where there fifteen, mainly in Clermont-Ferrand area.
